Discovering the Côtes de Provence

Road Trip* / 1 day / 80 miles

Vines cover the Var countryside. Among pines, olive trees, fields of lavender, and only a few yards from the Mediterranean, you could say that the Var vineyards are living the good life. Logically, our region’s rosé is an international star with growing success! Provence doesn’t only go with rosé. The Provençal vineyards also have excellent soil for white and red wines. For our greatest pleasure, some of the Var estates and castles have opened the doors to their cellars to show the public behind the scenes. On the programme: a tasting, a guided tour, an art exhibition, fun activities…

Idea 4:  Tour of the Peyrassol estate

At Peyrassol, the old stone cellar houses cutting-edge equipment allowing for a very precise wine-making process. Without renouncing tradition, the estate has adapted to oenology’s sizeable developments and provides the expertise of a competent team to supervise operations.

The Peyrassol estate also houses a monumental sculpture park. Situated among vines and woods, this collection is one of the most beautiful contemporary art collections in the open air. Uniting art and history, these works invite the walker to curious meetings to dive into the privacy of the Commanderie that many of these works were created for.

Art and Wine

Each year, the independent wine growers of the Var welcome both experienced and promising artists into their homes. This transforms the Var estates and castles into temporary galleries over the summer, where painting, sculpture and other types of art stand alongside the Provençal cellars, warehouses and wines.
